Bourgoin Verjus is a 100% plant based non-alcoholic grape juice made from Ugni-Blanc grapes of the late harvest. Benefiting from rare Cretaceous subsoils (Middle Cenomanian), the Bourgoin vineyard grows 100% ugni-blanc grapes. The low density of planting, of around 2,750 vines per hectare, allows each vine to produce 6 kg of very acidic grapes which are usually intended for the production of quality Cognacs. However in this case the highly acidic grapes have been used to produce a wonderful hand-crafted acid grape juice.
As Verjus contains an almost parallel acidity level, this acidic grape juice is used as an eco-friendly substitute for lemons. Today most of Europe’s lemon imports come from South America - meaning lemons are carbon footprint heavy. Meanwhile, the production of Verjus takes place in the village of Tarsac in Charente, France which removes the long process of transportation entailed with importing from far away countries.
The family estate Bourgoin Cognac is located in Saint Saturnin between Cognac and Angoulême. Within the 90 hectares of vines, the brand is known for producing atypical Cognacs. Maison Bourgoin is a contemporary craft Cognac brand that dedicates its passion and expertise to cultivating the very best vines, through the most natural means possible. Offering a unique range of Cognac and non-Cognac products, this family-run business boasts a strong branding identity, which enables them to stand out from the crowd within the world of Cognac.
